…bé, tècnicament Minneapolis sense St. Paul. Les dos ciutats estan tant enganxades l’una amb l’altre que les anomenen les ciutats bessones (les ‘twin cities’). Però segons se m’informa™ St. Paul té massa oficines i poca vida; i a més qui m’allotja viu a la part de Minneapolis i en bicicleta costa més arribar a l’altre banda que en cotxe.
Ah! Que no ho ho ho dit…? Resulta que Minneapolis ha estat recentment considerada com la millor ciutat dels EUA per a circular en bicicleta, superant la mítica Portland d’Oregon. Així que per tal de fer la visita com cal, he llogat una bicicleta del tipus ‘bicing’ que m’ha costat 6$ per a tot el dia.
El que no entenc és com poden ser la millor ciutat per a les bicicletes amb temperatures al voltant dels -20ºC durant l’hivern (o pitjor). Hi fa tant de fred que se’t congela el baf al bigoti al respirar (en cas de tenir bigoti), i els edificis del ‘downtown’ estan connectats entre si per tal de no haver de sortir al carrer. Sí, talment com hàmsters.
